Sri Lanka opener Tillakaratne Dilshan has been ruled out of the tri-series in West Indies after suffering a calf injury.
Dilshan,
who hurt his right calf during Sri Lanka's Champions Trophy semi-final
clash against India, had suffered a second degree tear and has been
advised rest for 4-6 weeks, according to a Sri Lanka team spokesperson.
The tri-series, which also features India, begins on June 28 and the
Lankan selectors are expected to name Dilshan's replacement soon.
The right-handed opener, who made a positive start in the match against
India on Thursday, hit Umesh Yadav for back-to-back boundaries in the
4th over before pulling his calf muscle. Despite extensive treatment
from the physio, who administered pain-killers, Dilshan found the pain
unbearable and was forced to retire hurt. A limping Dilshan returned to
bat in the 49th over and remained unbeaten on 18.
