Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa informed Parliament

Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa informed Parliament Friday that a Parliament Select Committee has been appointed to make recommendations and compile a report on the political and constitutional measures that should be taken to enable all the people of Sri Lanka to live as one nation. The Speaker announced the nominees of the government for the Parliamentary Select Committee. The Speaker informed Parliament that the PSC would be chaired by the Leader of the House, Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva. Ministers Professor G.L. Peiris, Maithripala Sirisena. W.D.J.Seneviratne, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and Dinesh Gunawardena have also been appointed to this PSC. Ministers Basil Rajapaksa, Douglas Devananda, Susil Premajayantha, A.L.M. Athaullah, D.E.W.Gunasekera, Rishad Bathiutheen and Patali Champika Ranawaka have also been included in the Parliamentary Select Committee. Furthermore, the Speaker noted that Ministers and MPs Wimal Weerawansa, Vasudeva Nanyakkara, Muththu Sivalingam, Sudarshani Fernando Pulle and Janaka Bandara have also been appointed to the PSC. The Chief Opposition Whip informed the chamber that the nominees of the opposition for the Parliamentary Select Committee will be announced at a later date.
