President Mahinda Rajapaksa congratulates newly elected Iranian president

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has congratulated the newly elected President of Iran Hassan Rouhani.
In the congratulatory note, President Rajapksa noted that he hoped to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
President Rajapaksa further pointed out that though diplomatic relations between the two countries were established nearly six decades ago, ties between the countries existed long before that.
