An oil leak was reported from near the Kolonnawa Oil storage facility.
When mode inquiries regarding this from the Ceylon
Petroleum Corporation, it was stated that they suspected a leak when
oil was been pumped to the storage facility from a ship.
The CPC noted that steps were taken to halt the pumping of oil and
to send water through the pipe instead to detect the exact location of
the leak.
The CPC said that measures were taken to dispose the water that had mixed with the oil, in an environmentally friendly manner.
The Corporation added that leaks have been constantly reported from
the pipeline and therefore measures will be taken to construct a new
pipeline.
