support to build 25,000 houses in North and East


The EU Head of Delegation who called on Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne at the Prime Minister’s Office on Wednesday said a feasibility study is being carried out for this project.
Savage told the Prime Minister that many foreigners love Sri Lanka on account of its serenity and hospitality of its people.
Savage said a delegation from the European Union is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka next month to approve these housing schemes. The European Union would extend its fullest cooperation towards the development of the country.
Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne commended the support of the European Union to end the war in Sri Lanka. The proscription of the LTTE by the European Union drew a similar response from many countries.
“With the ending of the terrorist war under the leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, people of all nationalities could live in peace and harmony,” the Prime Minister said.
